(1) The master of a vessel must not cause or allow the vessel:(a) to exceed 4 knots while passing through or under a bridge, or(b) to pass through or under a bridge except under power or on tow, or(c) to tow another vessel through or under a bridge while travelling with the tide, or(d) to pass through or under a bridge abreast of another vessel.Maximum penalty: 10 penalty units.
(2) In the case of a bridge for which a particular speed limit is fixed under the Maritime Services Act 1935 or the Marine Safety Act 1998, the reference in subclause (1) (a) to 4 knots is taken to be a reference to the speed limit so fixed.(3) In this clause, a reference to a vessel on tow includes a reference to a vessel (such as a barge or lighter) that is being pushed by another vessel.
