Part 1 Preliminary

1   Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Local Government (Meetings) Regulation 1999.

2   Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 September 1999.

3   Definitions

In this Regulation:

amendment, in relation to an original motion, means a motion moving an amendment to that motion.

chairperson:

(a)  in relation to a meeting of a council—means the person presiding at the meeting as provided by section 369 of the Act, and
(b)  in relation to a meeting of a committee of a council—means the person presiding at the meeting as provided by clause 40.

committee, in relation to a council, means a committee established under clause 33 or the council when it has resolved itself into a committee of the whole.

councillor includes a member of the governing body of a county council.

the Act means the Local Government Act 1993.

The explanatory note, table of contents and notes in the text of this Regulation do not form part of this Regulation.
