6 Transit police service
(1) The transit police service consists of the persons employed as
transit police under this Act.
(2) The principal function of the transit police service is to promote
security, safety and order on public transport in the State, including
railways and trains.
(3) The Public Sector Management Act
1988 does not apply to or in respect of the appointment or
employment of a member of the transit police service and a member of the
transit police service, is not, as such a member, subject to that
Act.
(4) A member of the transit police service is not a police
officer.
