27 Employment of Departmental temporary employees
(1988 Act, s 38 (1)–(2))
(1) The appropriate Department Head may employ a person who has appropriate qualifications to carry out work in the Department for a particular period.(2) Persons employed under this Part are Departmental temporary employees.(3) A person may be employed as a Departmental temporary employee:(a) for the duration of a specified task or project, or(b) to carry out the duties of a position that is temporarily vacant, or(c) to provide additional assistance in a particular work area, or(d) in connection with the secondment or exchange of staff, or(e) to undertake a traineeship or cadetship, or(f) for any other temporary purpose.(4) The employment of persons under this Part is subject to:(a) section 7 (3), and(b) any other provision of this Act or the regulations concerning the employment of Departmental temporary employees.
