54 Decision to prepare draft local environmental plan
(1) A council may decide to prepare a draft local environmental plan in respect of the whole or any part of the land within its area.(2) Two or more councils may decide to join in the preparation of a draft local environmental plan in respect of the whole or any part of the land within their areas.(3) Where 2 or more councils decide to join in the preparation of a draft local environmental plan under subsection (2), they shall enter into an agreement for the purpose of preparing that draft local environmental plan.(4) A council or councils, as the case may be, shall inform the Director-General of the decision to prepare a draft local environmental plan and of the land to which it is intended to apply.(5) Following the decision to prepare a draft local environmental plan, the council or councils may, subject to and in accordance with this Division, prepare the plan.
