71 Changes of ownership
(1) Whenever any land is sold and conveyed or any lease in writing for
a term exceeding three years under which the lessee is liable to pay the whole
or any part of any rate or tax in respect of the land so leased is granted,
transferred, surrendered or assigned, the purchaser, lessee, transferee,
surrenderee, or assignee, as the case may be, shall give written notice
thereof to the Valuer-General within one month of the completion thereof, and
shall give such particulars in respect of the sale, lease, transfer,
surrender, or assignment as the Valuer-General may in writing require or as
may be prescribed.
(2) The requirements of this section in relation to the giving of
notice are taken to have been satisfied in relation to an event if notice of
the event is lodged with the Registrar-General with a dealing, application or
instrument as referred to in section 39 of the Real Property Act 1900 or section
184E of the Conveyancing Act
1919 within 1 month after the occurrence of the
event.
